Egyptian Australian producer Khaled Rohaim knows how to gets up close and personal with some of the world’s biggest rappers and pop stars. As part of the production team Twice As Nice, he co-wrote and co-produced slinky standouts for the likes of Rihanna, Ariana Grande and Meghan Trainor in 2016 alone. Moving into a mentor role for The Kid LAROI, he helmed the majority of tracks on the young Sydney MC’s 2020 mixtape F*CK LOVE. Rohaim’s light touch can especially be heard on the latter’s “SO DONE”, pairing gentle acoustic strumming with mellow beats. Madison Beer’s 2020 ballad “Selfish” is similarly intimate, as is Doja Cat’s spacey 2021 reverie “Love to Dream”. Yet he has maintained his rap credibility all the while, providing the updated pulse of Polo G’s breathless 2021 extrapolation of Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal”.
