Though jazz trumpeter Kenny Dorham was famously exotic in the styles he chose, from bossa nova to Afro-Cuban, he could also knock a standard straight out of the park. As heard in such gems as his expressive reading of “It Could Happen To You”, his wintery recording of “Autumn in New York” or his immensely cool “Mack the Knife”, Dorham had the classics in the bag.
