Kamikazee Essentials

Kamikazee may hail from Quezon City in the Philippines and sing in their native tongue, but their signature blend of alt-rock and post-hardcore should feel distinctly familiar to anybody well-versed in the American origins of those genres. Their sound—heavy on power chords, fist-pumping percussion and soaring vocals—recalls the chart-friendly pomp of pop-punk in the 2000s. But scratch the surface and the influence of angst-ridden Midwest emo shines through, too. This selection is an ideal way into their catalogue, two decades deep and counting.
