Don't try to pin this quartet down as any kind of folk revival act: no matter how much they adore the traditions of rural Quebec, Kaïn just can't help blasting those sounds through an urban setting. Claiming metal and prog as hidden influences, the band have never shied away from dressing their choruses with handclaps or dropping a little chicken-pickin' speed guitar atop a traditional melody. And while they can open a number crooning sweet as choirboys, they'll be just as likely to be slamming home power chords before the song ends.
