June of 44 Essentials
Apple Music
With a lineup that included former members of Rodan and Hoover, brooding Kentucky math-rockers June of 44 added a jagged dose of post-hardcore intensity to the dramatic template laid down by Slint. The group were initially known for stark, heavy songs full of thrillingly unpredictable shifts in tempo and volume, but June of 44's riffs and rhythms grew more hypnotic over the course of their brief run, blending in elements of dub reggae, jazz fusion and electronica. Splitting in 1999, June of 44's members went on to play with The Shipping News, HiM and other revered avant-rock units.
