Journey: Ballads

When it comes to dramatic power ballads, Journey are masters—and the golden tenor of Steve Perry deserves a lot of the credit. But what ultimately pushes yearning classics like “Open Arms”, “Lights” and “Faithfully” over the top is the band's talent for wrapping his soaring vocals in swelling waves of piano, endlessly ascending guitar solos and thunderous cymbal crashes.
