Josh Fountain: The Producers

Josh Fountain got his start as a member of the short-lived trio Kidz In Space at the dawn of the 2010s. But he has since rocketed to industry fame as a producer and songwriter, thanks in part to being the primary collaborator of Auckland alt-pop star BENEE. Her light-on-its-feet 2019 single “Supalonely” with Gus Dapperton became a belated global hit at the onset of COVID lockdowns in 2020, earning gold or platinum certification in more than a dozen countries. Their subsequent hit, “Glitter”, earned the pair Aotearoa New Zealand’s highest songwriting honour—the APRA Silver Scroll award—along with co-writer Djeisan Suskov. Since then, Fountain has worked closely with such rising Auckland artists as TEEKS, Paige and MAALA while also playing a pivotal role in the popular electro-funk ensemble LEISURE. No matter what the project is, he brings an airy touch that makes each track feel equally organic and unburdened by anxiety.
