Brian King and David Prowse came formed Japandroids in Vancouver in 2006, but success was far from immediate. Their melodic, energetic noise-rock—inspired by punk bands like Hüsker Dü and Jawbreaker—didn't yield them much attention early on, and the two considered splitting pending the release of their 2009 album Post-Nothing. Luckily, the LP met with massive critical acclaim, finally earning Japandroids the attention they'd been missing. The duo toured their debut heavily before following it up with the raucous, joyous Celebration Rock in 2012.
