A longtime student of country anthems, James Johnston debuted with one of his own in the form of 2021’s gold-selling single “RAISED LIKE THAT”. Brought up on farms in New South Wales before hitting Tamworth and later Australian Idol, Johnston never lost touch with the songs that made a serious impression on him in years past. That includes party songs ideal for driving down a dirt road or drinking beers around a bonfire. I remember dreaming that one day I would write a song that everyone knew the words to.”   Lee Kernaghan, “Boys from the Bush” “Lee Kernaghan was the soundtrack to my life growing up, I lived on a farm in the bush and whenever I was in the car or in the tractor, Lee was what we played. This song just made me feel part of a club, like I belonged.”   Alan Jackson, “Summertime Blues” “I was a big fan of American country growing up, in particular Alan Jackson. As a kid I would spend hours learning his songs and, with a big hat and boots, I’d dream of being a country music star.”
