J-Pop for Yogaku Listners

The influence of English-language pop and rock music (known in Japan as yogaku) is stronger in some J-Pop artists than others. Certainly, there are familiar ideas in the spangly rock of Glim Spanky, the delicate atmospherics of Toe or Maia Hirasawa's sweet, translucent pop. Although, as with all great cultural exchanges, something is added in translation.
