Inspired by The Byrds

Wherever bands use soaring harmonies and joyously jangling guitars, they're tracing the flight path of The Byrds. It's there in The Beatles' “If I Needed Someone” and The Monkees' “What Am I Doing Hangin' ‘Round”, where everything chimes and sparkles. Their spangled six-string arpeggios were adapted by R.E.M. and The Smiths in the '80s, and then Wilco and The Jayhawks took note of their cosmic country side and ran with it.
