Though the term "indie rock”, by today's standards, refers to acts operating outside the mainstream, the phrase also applies to a generation of performers who maintained a personal vision, despite being major label talent. Compiled in our second volume are mavericks from the '60s and '70s, from folk iconoclasts like Leonard Cohen and Nick Drake, to rockers like David Bowie and Captain Beefheart.
