Hyolyn Essentials

SISTAR member Hyolyn makes smooth electro-R&B when she steps out from her main group. She debuted with the quartet in 2010 and started her own solo efforts three years later. She gravitates toward a fizzy R&B sound featuring synthesiser melodies and hip-hop-inspired beats, her relaxed singing style melding just right with the music. She works well alone, but Hyolyn thrives when bouncing off guest rap verses, from the gruff delivery of ZICO (“Dark Panda”) to the lithe rhymes of Jay Park (“One Step”). She's also versatile enough to carry a piano ballad, pushing her voice to soaring heights.
