Helsinki-based HIM mix heavily distorted guitars, brooding keyboards, sonorous drums and the warm baritone of lead singer Ville Valo to create their blend of pop rock and goth metal. The band released their debut album Greatest Love Songs Vol. 666 in 1997 but their major breakthrough came in 1999 with the global smash hit “Join Me In Death”. Inspired by Finnish mythology, 2005's best-selling album Dark Light features a number of classic tracks, including the searing riffs and anthemic chorus of “Killing Loneliness” alongside the catchy and frenetic “Wings of a Butterfly”.
