Guru Guru Essentials

Guru Guru remains one of the longest-running, most multifaceted Krautrock groups. The band formed in 1968 as The Guru Guru Groove, with Mani Neumeier on drums, Uli Trepte on bass and Eddy Naegeli on guitar. Two years later, they shortened their name and began to release what has become an essential oeuvre in experimental rock. Early on, that meant trippy, sprawling psychedelic rock visions, capped off by the wild vocalising of Neumeier. As the years moved forward, they dabbled in disco-infused funk, unabashedly giddy pop music, twisted prog rock and free jazz.
