Gianandrea Noseda Essentials

For Italian conductor Gianandrea Noseda, who studied in Milan and debuted in the early ‘90s with the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi, staying close to home has proven a good approach, as his celebrated oeuvre is full of explosive operas and passionate symphonies from the European masters. His brisk and lyrical Verdi grasps something powerful from the Romantic period; his Puccini opera numbers, like La Bohème’s “Quando Me'n Vo'”, are amorous and intoxicating. Noseda’s conjuring of Mozart’s excited vocal lines and alluring theatricality in Don Giovanni’s “Madamina, il catalogo è questo” is nothing short of masterful.
