Genesis: The Middle Years

Peter Gabriel's departure in 1974 could have spelled the end of Genesis. But Phil Collins' move into the frontman role changed the group's focus from extended prog-rock epics to a more concise and pop-oriented sound. After guitarist Steve Hackett's 1977 exit, keyboard-driven radio hits like "Follow You, Follow Me" laid the groundwork for the band's international superstardom in the '80s.
