Galaxie 500: Influences

In the late-‘80s, Galaxie 500 helped launch a quiet revolution in indie rock, rejecting speed and noise in favour of a fragile, languid sound. The Boston-based trio took obvious inspiration from The Velvet Underground, but also drew from offbeat art-psych collective Red Krayola, elegant proto-punks Television, first-wave indie outfit The Feelies and dream pop pioneers Cocteau Twins.
