Elliott Essentials

Elliott Essentials

Elliott rose out of Louisville, Kentucky's punk scene in 1995, but over the following eight years, their sound evolved into a gorgeous blend of intricate post-hardcore and symphonic post-rock. Throughout the band's tumultuous existence, singer/guitarist Chris Higdon remained the only common thread, his vocals dreamy or dramatic as the occasion demanded. Over three releases, the band took their emo roots to ambitious heights, folding in programmed percussion and synths or lush, string-laden arrangements and taking cues from bands as disparate as Refused, Rachel's and Radiohead.
