Don Burrows Essentials

If a jazz man's mettle is measured by the company he keeps, the names Dizzy Gillespie, Stephane Grappelli, Oscar Peterson, Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra begin to describe the calibre of Don Burrows' 75-year journey as an international woodwinds virtuoso. After a wartime swing apprenticeship, the Sydney multi-instrumentalist pioneered Australian jazz history via early '70s appearances at Newport and Montreaux and our first gold-selling jazz record, Just the Beginning. A tireless educator and household name due to his six-year TV broadcasting profile and popular '80s pairing with James Morrison, Burrows entered the ARIA Hall of Fame in '91, and was named a Living National Treasure in '88 and '98.
