Since emerging in the late '90s, Death Cab for Cutie have evolved into one of the 21st century's most refined and eclectic indie pop bands. Complementing Ben Gibbard's vivid, introspective storytelling and soothing vocals, the band works through intricate guitar pop on "A Movie Script Ending", stretches out on the slow-burning piano dirge "Transatlanticism" and then flips that romanticism into the moody, bass-led stalker epic "I Will Possess Your Heart". Over time they've incorporated soft electro flourishes, adding an ethereal gloss to ballads like "Black Sun".
