A half-Colombian and half-Maori rapper hailing from South Brisbane, Day1 has been writing rhymes since the tender age of nine. His melodic approach draws evenly from American and Aussie rap influences, making for an affable, accessible sound that transcends geography. Case in point: his 2019 breakthrough “BOSS”, a stop-start earworm flush with electronic textures that he released when he was still a teenager. Day1 proves comfortable with romance too, as heard on the steamy club account “Wavey”, featuring Sydney rapper Davey. Day1's 2021 debut EP, Day Uno, further flexed his versatility, especially on the R&B-licked “King of My City”.
