Dawn Penn Essentials

Jamaican singer Dawn Penn is largely known for “You Don't Love Me (No, No, No),” a classic that was a hit in two separate decades. Originally recorded in 1967 as a rocksteady single during her Studio One stint with the legendary producer Clement “Sir Coxsone” Dodd, the track also found favour as a riddim on the nascent deejay scene in the 1970s, by which time Penn had left the music business altogether. A digital rework by Steely & Clevie in 1992 saw the track return to the charts; it has since been sampled by the likes of Rihanna and Ghostface Killah.
