David Bowie's Influence on Pop

David Bowie's musical genius changed pop many times over, as did his knack for self-reinvention. When The Cure switched it up with the perky “Just Like Heaven”, that was a Bowie-grade move; so was Kanye's defiant “Stronger” and each of his subsequent shape-shifts. The Rolling Stones also looked to Bowie's chameleonic lead, particularly on “Miss You”, with its echoes of his plastic soul phase.
