As Sub Pop's first South American signees, CSS bring the sexy sizzle of São Paolo's underground into every ounce of their cheeky dance-punk. The band's 2005 debut, Cansei de Ser Sexy, comes with a dizzying array of disco beats, New Wave synths and naughty lyrics delivered by the vivacious Lovefoxxx, as on sassy party-starters like "Music Is My Hot, Hot Sex". But not all of their charm is drenched in sleaze and sarcasm: Subsequent releases explore rawer and richer sounds, like the urgent indie rock of "Rat Is Dead (Rage)" and the squelchy reggaetón beats brightening up “Hangover”.
