Creedence Clearwater Revival: 1969
Apple Music
Creedence Clearwater Revival released three albums in 1969, all of them filled with classic songs by singer/guitarist John Fogerty. Released in early January, the hit “Proud Mary” briefly pegged Creedence as a good-timey roots-rock band. But that changed just three months later, when they caught the dread of the Vietnam era with “Bad Moon Rising.” They played Woodstock that summer and wrapped up the year with “Fortunate Son,” a song whose political impact would be felt for decades to come.
