The formation of Callejon coincided with the acension to prominence of the metalcore genre in the early noughties; they first came together in their native Düsseldorf in 2002. Since, they’ve gone to prove themselves model advocates for the style, both staying blisteringly true to its origins with early hits like “Phantomschmerz”, and also continue to push the envelope of the scene’s landscape, serving up the kind of stylistic subversion that came to define their transgressive 2019 record Hartgeld im Club, especially on such tracks as “Was Du Liebe nennst” and “Von Party zu Party”.
