Breaks Co-Op Essentials

Breaks Co-Op Essentials

With hindsight, you can hear Breaks Co-Op longing for Britain in the crisp trip-hop groove of their first single of 1997, “Sound Advice”. After their Rafters album, the soulful electronic duo from Auckland moved apart and eventually to London, where Zane Lowe would make his name as a highly regarded BBC Radio DJ. But his bond with Hamish Clark would endure to forge a parallel path in the recording studio. Singer Andy Lovegrove emphasised a more organic R&B feel on The Sound Inside, which went double Platinum back home as lead single “The Otherside” took Song of The Year at the New Zealand Music Awards. Sounds Familiar (are you digging the sonic thread here?) followed in 2014.
