Uncompromisingly intense and aggressive, Born of Osiris are addicted to epic but eccentric leads, insane shredding, dizzying time signatures and take-no-prisoners barking. They're deathcore standard bearers who owe just as much to progressive death metal. While clearly comrades of fellow djent-inflected Chicago gang Veil of Maya, the band's complexity suggests some high-tech amalgam of Meshuggah, Dream Theater and Fear Factory. Between industrial electronic soundscapes and ghostly backup vocals, they're unafraid to find beauty amid the harshness, chaos and blast beats.
