Bodyjar have been an Australian pop-punk institution since forming in Melbourne in the ‘90s, earning a devoted following by reliably offering up high-energy sing-along anthems. But while they stay close to a sound that would go over well on a Warped Tour bill next to Pennywise and blink-182, songwriters Cameron Baines and Grant Relf find subtle ways to bend the Southern California skate-punk sound to their vision, such as the rubbery post-punk basslines of "Fall to the Ground", the overlapping, call-and-response group chorus in "You Say" and the cascading, lush melodies and escalating breakdown of "Lights Out".
