East Coast punk came in various shapes and sizes over the years, but its beginnings can be traced to the '70s. That's when the glam-slam of the New York Dolls morphed into the art-punk of Richard Hell and the Voidoids and the three-chord bubblegum slam of the Ramones, all of whom changed culture in some way. That led to other greats, like D.C.'s punk-dub trailblazers Bad Brains and South Boston's Celtic punks Dropkick Murphys.
