About Yiyo Sarante

Yiyo Sarante is a Latin-pop musician from the Dominican Republic who found success as a salsa singer. ∙ Born Eduardo Sarante, he grew up in a large family of musicians and started out playing percussion in various orchestras before getting a job singing at a resort. ∙ After working in his brother Julián’s orchestra, he teamed up with his brother José in 2010 and launched a solo career as Yiyo Sarante. ∙ In 2012, his recording of “Maldita Primavera”—a salsa version of the ’80s international Italian hit—garnered regional airplay on Florida Tropical radio and in parts of the US East Coast. ∙ Sarante released his debut album, La Voz de la Salsa, in 2013. ∙ His song “Me Hubieras Dicho” rose into the Top 20 of Billboard’s Tropical Airplay chart in 2019. ∙ Along with Cuban vocalist Marlon Fernández, he was featured on the Puerto Rican salsa group N’Klabe’s 2019 hit version of the classic “Aguinaldo Antillano.”
