About Tony Colton's Big Boss Band

b. England. Colton was already a well-known and highly regarded session musician when he joined fellow seasoned professionals in Heads, Hands And Feet. His previous groups had additionally included Real McCoy, Poet And The One Man Band while his songs had been performed by Zoot Money among others. His own group, the Big Boss Band, was formed in 1964 and made its debut with a single, ‘I Lose My Mind’, for Decca Records. In 1965 he moved to Pye Records, though his three singles for the label, ‘I Stand Accused’, ‘You’re Wrong There Baby’ and ‘I’ve Laid Some Down In My Time’, failed to produce a breakthrough. For his final single, ‘In The World Of Marnie Dreaming’, Colton moved to Columbia Records. After that single’s failure he returned to session work.
