About Tanteeka
This short-lived UK folk band comprised four skilled musicians with a wealth of experience between them. Andy Cutting (b. 18 March 1969, Harrow, Middlesex, England; accordion), Jo Freya (b. Jo-Anne Rachel Newmarch Fraser, 4 December 1960, St. Albans, Hertfordshire, England; saxophone, clarinet, whistle, vocals), Oliver Knight (b. Hull, North Humberside, England; guitar), and Alice Kinloch (trombone, tuba, vocals) brought their various talents together on Tanteeka’s sole recording, 1997’s A New Tradition. Mixing traditional material with original compositions by all four members, the album was a pleasing addition to the UK folk revival of the late 90s.
