About SUHO

Having made his name under the banner of internationally lauded boy band EXO, South Korean singer Suho made his solo breakout in 2020 with a smooth, ballad-driven style. Born in Seoul and raised in Busan, singer Suho (born Kim Jun-myeon) found his musical calling in 2006, when he was scouted and signed by major organization SM Entertainment. Introduced as the tenth member of boy band EXO in February 2012, the musician soon found himself at the forefront of popular culture; EXO's 2012 debut album, XOXO, became the first Korean album to sell over a million copies in 12 years. With the group quickly establishing itself as one of the world's most prominent K-pop outfits, Suho enjoyed an extensive career under EXO, releasing six further studio albums through the 2010s (Exodus, Ex'Act, The War, Don't Mess Up My Tempo, Countdown, and Obsession). Throughout the latter half of the decade, the vocalist fleshed out his collaborative work, featuring repeatedly on label project S.M. Station Season 1 and branching into acting work through musicals, films, and TV dramas. His solo debut came at the start of the new decade: in February 2020, SM announced that Suho had finished work on his debut mini album, Self-Portrait. Arriving the following month, the project featured a mix of modern pop and rock styles, highlighting the musician's impressive vocal talent. ~ David Crone
