Spookyland

At once rootsy and grandly poetic, Sydney, Australia's Spookyland features frontman Marcus Gordon, his brother Liam on guitar, bassist Nic Malouf, and drummer Nath Mansfield. Originally the folky solo project of Gordon, Spookyland's 2010 debut EP, Killin' One Bird with Two Stones, introduced his offbeat viewpoint and piercing tenor, as well as the influence of American singer/songwriters such as Bob Dylan, Lou Reed, Patti Smith, and Bruce Springsteen. Late in 2015, the seven-minute single "Bulimic" provided the first taste of the group's debut album, Beauty Already Beautiful, which was released in May 2016. ~ Heather Phares
