About Mazzy Star

Led by David Roback and Hope Sandoval, Mazzy Star was an American alternative rock band best known for their 1994 hit “Fade into You.” ∙ Formed from the ashes of the psychedelic rock band Opal, Mazzy Star won critical acclaim for their 1990 debut album, She Hangs Brightly. ∙ Their 1993 LP So Tonight That I Might See was their most commercially successful album, selling more than a million copies in the US. ∙ The dark and dreamy “Fade into You,” which peaked at No. 44 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, was ranked No. 19 on Pitchfork’s The Top 200 Tracks of the 1990s. ∙ “Take Everything,” from the band’s 1996 album, Among My Swan, featured guest guitar from William Reid of The Jesus and Mary Chain. ∙ Among My Swan’s “Look On Down from the Bridge” was used during the funeral scene in the “Meadowlands” episode of The Sopranos, as well as over the show’s closing credits. ∙ The band’s 2013 comeback album, Seasons of Your Day, featured a guest appearance by legendary British folk guitarist Bert Jansch on the track “Spoon.”
