Jack Dupon

About Jack Dupon

Jack Dupon is a French art rock quintet. Their sound crisscrosses 21st century prog, math rock, improvisation, post-punk, prog metal, and (some) Rock in Opposition aesthetics. Their fictional namesake travels through time, changing the soul of the world. As evidenced by L'Africain Disparu, their 2006 debut long-player, they wed driving guitar-based rock to spiraling improvisation, sans vocals. The French rock press compared the interplay between guitarists Gregory Pozzoli and Philip Prebet to Television's Richard Lloyd and Tom Verlaine. They introduced their loopy brand of absurdist, art punk vocals on 2008's L'échelle du Désir. Touring hard over the next several years, the band won many European fans as evidenced by the popularity of 2012's double live Bascule à Vif. 2016's Empty Full Circulation reflected a debt of inspiration to Frank Zappa, while 2021's international breakthrough, La République Dominicale du Zoo, was a syncopated concept offering drenched in surrealism, neo-psychedelia, and Pere Ubu-esque post-punk.
