About Holding Absence

Holding Absence are a post-hardcore quartet from Cardiff, U.K. Delivering pummeling percussion, striking guitar riffs, and huge choruses on releases such as their 2019 eponymous debut LP, the group caught the attention of alternative music fans with songs such as "Like a Shadow" and "Dream of Me." Made up of Lucas Woodland (vocals), Feisal El-Khazragi (guitar), James Joseph (bass), and Ashley Green (drums), the group came together in 2016 and began to write and record material while performing on the local scene. 2017 saw the band put out a number of singles including "Penance" and "Heaven Knows." Having earned a committed local fan base, the band went on to sign with Sharptone Records and in 2018 they put out a split EP, This Is as One, with British metalcore act Loathe. That same year saw Holding Absence nominated for Best U.K. Breakthrough Band at the Heavy Metal Awards. Their debut self-titled album arrived in March 2019.
