With March 2022’s debut single “Cardboard Box”, trio Renée Downer, Stella Quaresma and Jorja Douglas, better known as FLO, emerged as the fresh faces of the UK’s R&B revival. Having unveiled the MNEK-produced track after a year of online covers, the London-based group return to acoustic comforts for their debut Apple Music Home Session. “It’s one of the first songs we wrote together,” Stella says of the single. “So it’s special in itself—we've also been working lots with [vocal coach] Joshua Alamu, who put together this really cool acoustic version, and it just felt right.” First up, they dive into a magical cover of JoJo’s 2004 debut “Leave (Get Out)”, inspired by a recent backstage meeting with the R&B star. “She was so lovely,” Renée says. “And is definitely a huge influence on the music we listened to [growing up], and make now—it’s almost like we’re paying our respect. It’s such a great song, with amazing backing vocals and harmonies.”
