From 1990 until 1996, Madrid embraced one of the most influential bands in the Hispanosphere. Los Rodriguez were a four-piece band orchestrated by the jangle and blues guitars of Ariel Rot and Julián Infante, and magnified by the cracked vocals, keyboards and superb lyrics of the already legendary Andrés Calamaro. Influenced by The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan and Tom Waits, and with a vast knowledge of Ibero-American music, Los Rodriguez fused traditional rock and blues with Latin American rhythms like rumba and bolero—a killer combination for a band with an incalculable legacy.
