Colt Ford's music offers the sort of mind-bending genre-mashing that could only come from the contemporary South. That may be why this LP reps the region so hard; on "Country Thang", he and Eric Church sing about rural life while a fiddle wails, as if the devil really did go down to Georgia—and stuck around to see Metallica. "This Is Our Song" even offers a history lesson, with Ford and Danny Boone of Rehab connecting country rap to the black spirituals of generations past.
