The Horrors Essentials

For The Horrors, there's certainly cinematic romance to the lush cocktail of garage rock and gothic rock swirling in every song. Formed in Essex in 2005, the band quickly stirred buzz in the English scene with punk-inflected singles “Sheena Is a Parasite” and “Death At The Chapel”. Propulsive guitar-driven melodies remain a hallmark, but a fateful production crossover with Portishead co-founder Geoff Barrow resulted in the moody synth atmospheres and fluttering sequences of Primary Colours, which was shortlisted for the 2009 Mercury Prize. The Horrors would later tour with Florence + the Machine and Depeche Mode, reaching global audiences as the sound of future records veered into percussive dance music on Luminous (2014) and paranoid fuzz on V (2017).
