Musical borders crumble when this British-Punjabi alchemist goes to work. The ever-mellow Sawhney has been combining devotion to the Indian classical tradition with cutting-edge electronic beats and trip-hop since his 1994 debut. Breezy jazz piano, droning synths, and drum 'n' bass join tabla and a classical voice in "Migration", while Anoushka Shankar's sitar seems to dissolve into the strings and keyboards of "Charu Keshi Rain". Slide guitar, harmonica and soul singer Joss Stone together provide the roots in "Keep the Light On" alongside Sawhney's subtle beats.
