Mardi Gras Party: Silky Safari

Mardi Gras Party: Silky Safari

“Hey friend, where are you right now? Kitchen? Dance. Patio? Dance. Toilet? Dance. In transit? Dance. At work? Dance. In bed? Dance. Now dance doesn’t have to be anything more than a sway of the shoulders and tap of the foot. But as for me and my house, we’re getting down. Through the lows and highs, disco, funk, and that good ol’ house have always taken the soul to places beyond. Wherever you are this Mardi Gras, remember: You are loved by an extended and universal love that cannot be shaken. Now come on, diva, Let’s Werk. It. Out.” These prayerful words come courtesy of Ausli Hue, the US-born, Australia-based DJ and producer who co-created the Silky Safari playlist alongside Sydney DJ Smithers. They’re words to live by as you hit play on one of five official Mardi Gras Party playlists. The official 2022 post-parade festivities were cancelled due to pandemic restrictions, but that doesn’t mean the party can’t carry on at home. So the DJs scheduled to perform on the night have created these playlists instead. The party would’ve taken place over five spaces with their own distinct themes, vibes and genres, and each playlist represents one of those spaces. Immerse yourself in the Silky Safari playlist here, and make sure to check out the other four official playlists.
