“This playlist celebrates the best of Chicago house, soaring vocals and the unique style of our own Australian producers,” house and techno DJ Troy Beman tells Apple Music. He’s one of the two DJs behind this Diamond Palace playlist, one of a five-part Mardi Gras Party series. The official 2022 post-parade festivities were cancelled due to pandemic restrictions, but that doesn’t mean the party can’t carry on at home. So the DJs meant to perform on the night have created these playlists instead. The party would’ve taken place over five rooms with their own distinct themes, vibes and genres, and each playlist represents one of those rooms. This Diamond Palace playlist—named after the party’s main room—was made “to have you twitching to the classics and thumping through something heavier”, Beman says. “This is music designed to make you feel something. To make you want to move. To transport you into the moment. For me, this sound is Mardi Gras.” The playlist was co-curated by house DJ and producer L.O.U. “I hope this playlist makes you dance and sing out loud,” she says. “My hope is to always bring people together through the power of music.” Listen to the playlist here, and make sure to check out the other four official Mardi Gras Party playlists.
