Langhorne Slim Essentials

Singer-songwriter Langhorne Slim combines old-school Americana influences with a modern indie-folk approach and comes out with poignant portraits of everyday life. Born Sean Scolnick in 1980, he got his stage name from his hometown of Langhorne, Pennsylvania. Self-taught on guitar, he grew up on grunge, but by the time he began studying music in school and taking his own songs to local stages, he had adopted a low-key folkie style. His 2004 debut, Electric Love Letter, revealed a young troubadour with an appealingly reedy tenor and trace elements of Bob Dylan, Neil Young and The Band. Over the next few years, he fleshed out his sound on increasingly sophisticated recordings as he gradually evolved into a cult figure, and he was heard on late-night TV as well as adverts and movie soundtracks. In 2014, a newly single Slim moved to Nashville, and these developments informed 2015’s The Spirit Moves, a game changer with his most full-bodied production and rocking feel to date.
