Kesha: Influences

Kesha: Influences

Kesha is a bit of an enigma—even when she’s the brashest girl at the party. Her myriad moods and styles reflect Madonna’s revolutionary dance pop as much as they do the brazen punk of Iggy Pop and Peaches, both of whom fuse pain and pleasure into club-ready catharsis. But her songwriting skills may have been inherited directly from her mother, who penned Dolly Parton’s poignant “Old Flames (Can’t Hold a Candle to You)”.
