Jars of Clay Essentials

Formed at Greenville College in Illinois, Jars of Clay packed up for Nashville, won a talent competition and became one of Christian music's most creative crossover acts. The pop/acoustic rock group hit double platinum with 1995's self-titled debut, which included production from Adrian Belew (of King Crimson fame) and prompted massive MTV prominence. Additional action on the charts continued through the decade, but even as the guys traded label life for independence, their innovative instrumentation and introspective lyrics continue to challenge and inspire.
