Hoola Bandoola Band Essentials

Hoola Bandoola Band were at the forefront of Sweden's progg movement, which arose as a backlash to increasing commercialism in music. Ironically, their debut Garanterat Individuell received critical acclaim, lauded by the industry it sought to defy when it was voted album of the year in 1971. Their sound runs the gamut of folk, taking in Simon & Garfunkel's breeziness and Pentangle's pastoral melancholy, their increasingly outspoken style peppered with socialist ideals. After a 20-year absence they returned in 1996 supporting Bob Dylan, a triumphant declaration of their enduring popularity.
